Lettinga Award
The Lettinga Award was initiated in 2001 by the Lettinga Foundation. The intention of this award is to stimulate innovation in the field of anaerobic technology for wastewater treatment aiming at cleaner production or recycling, sustainable development and/or resource conservation.
This may concern sustainable an innovative treatment concepts of industrial or domestic wastewaters, but also activities that are focussed on awareness, implementation, knowledge transfer and the demonstration of sustainable environmental biotechnologies. The innovative projects that can be submitted may take place all over the world, in both Northern and Southern countries. The Lettinga Award is adjudged to a project, not an individual person, nor an institute.
The Lettinga Award is organised each year when an IWA Anaerobic Digestion congress is held. The prize winner will be announced during the AD congress. At the same time the results of the previous winner are shared.
The Lettinga Award, with a cash prize of €10,000, is sponsored by Paques, Biothane and LeAF.
